The graphite electrode is packed in wooden crates, and the nipples are packed in wooden cases or pre-set in the electrodes. Electrodes would be covered with polythene sheet to protect the same from dust and moisture, and fasten with steel strips, which is good looking and firm. Proper and safe seaworthy packing, easy for forklift handling. Necessary measures would be provided to avoid possible damages to nipple threads-such as protective foam and rubber caps.

Application of UHP Graphite Electrodes
UHP Graphite Electrodes are primarily used in Electric Arc Furnaces (EAF) for steelmaking, where they conduct high electrical currents to generate the intense heat required for melting scrap steel and other metallic materials. Thanks to their low electrical resistance, high mechanical strength, and excellent thermal shock resistance, UHP electrodes are ideal for ultra-high-power furnace operations.
Typical Applications
• Electric Arc Furnaces (EAF) for carbon steel and alloy steel production
• Ladle Furnaces (LF) for secondary refining processes
• Submerged Arc Furnaces (SAF) for the production of ferroalloys, silicon metal, and calcium carbide
• Foundries and casting plants requiring efficient metal melting
• Special steel manufacturing, including stainless steel and tool steel production
• Metallurgical industries demanding stable performance under high current loads

Frequently Asked Questions
What are UHP Graphite Electrodes used for?
UHP Graphite Electrodes are primarily used in Electric Arc Furnaces (EAF) and Ladle Furnaces (LF) for steelmaking. Their high electrical conductivity and thermal shock resistance make them suitable for high-power melting operations.
What is the difference between UHP, HP, and RP Graphite Electrodes?
The main difference lies in current-carrying capacity and raw materials. UHP electrodes are manufactured with premium needle coke and can withstand significantly higher current densities than HP or RP grades, making them ideal for modern ultra-high-power furnaces.
How do I select the correct electrode size?
The electrode diameter depends on furnace capacity, transformer power, operating current, and production requirements. Common sizes range from 350 mm to 700 mm. Our technical team can recommend the most suitable specification based on your furnace parameters.
Why is electrode consumption important?
Lower electrode consumption directly reduces steelmaking costs. Factors affecting consumption include raw material quality, oxidation resistance, furnace operation practices, and nipple connection performance.
What raw materials are used in your UHP Graphite Electrodes?
Our UHP Graphite Electrodes are produced using high-quality needle coke and carefully controlled manufacturing processes to ensure stable conductivity, mechanical strength, and thermal shock resistance.
What thread types are available?
We offer both 3TPI and 4TPI threaded connections, depending on electrode diameter and customer requirements. Each nipple is precision-machined to ensure secure connections and stable furnace performance.
Can UHP Graphite Electrodes be customized?
Yes. Diameter, length, nipple configuration, packaging, and branding can all be customized according to project requirements and furnace specifications.
How long does production and delivery take?
Production lead times vary by size and quantity. Standard specifications are typically available with shorter lead times, while customized orders may require additional manufacturing time.
Do you provide technical support for electrode selection?
Yes. We assist customers with electrode sizing, nipple selection, consumption analysis, and application recommendations to help optimize furnace performance and operating costs.
Why choose ShanChun® Carbon UHP Graphite Electrodes?
ShanChun® Carbon focuses on consistent quality, stable electrical performance, reliable global supply, and technical support tailored to modern EAF steelmaking operations.
